DESCRIBING A LANDSCAPE

This landscape is located on the north east coast of Queensland, Australia, north of Mossman and Cairns. Australia is situated into the hot zone and also it's into the temperate zone at the south. In the hot zone, in  the northen part of the country, the temperatures are very high all year, but if we settle on the expecific climate, it is tropical climate. The characteristics of this climate are the high temperatures all year. There are two seasons, the rainy season (summer) and the dry season (winter). The savannas are common in tropical zones. It's a huge plain with tall grass. Its coulour varies. It is green in the rainy season, and yellow in the dry season.There are also scatterd shrubs.
In the Daintree rainforest are many types of fauna and flora. Crocodiles, kangaroos, butterflies, Green tree frog, lizards, jabirus, Boyd's Rainforest Dragons, Spectacled Flying Fox are different animals of this rainforest. About plants, there are cauliflory, daintree fan palm, Native Hibiscus, Banana tree.

ENGLISH VOCABULARY UNITS 1-2



Peer:one who is the equal of another in abilities or social status.

Tool:an instrument for some purpose or work.

Threaten;to make a statement or promise that one will punish or harm.

Sidebar:a short news feature or story, as in a newspaper, that appears alongside a longer story and adds to it.

Set up:an act or instance of setting up or getting ready.

Disrupt:to cause disorder or turmoil in.
Available:suitable or ready for use.

Development:the act or process of developing;growth; progress.

Device: a thing made for a particular purpose, esp. a mechanical or electric invention.

Tasks:a piece of work assigned to a person.

Littering:objects strewn or scattered about.

Complain:to express dissatisfaction, resentment, pain, grief, etc.;find fault.

Apologise:to make an apology.

Get on well:to receive or come to have possession, use, or enjoyment of.

Dubbing:the conferring of knighthood;accolade.

Embarrased:to (cause to) become ashamed, uncomfortable, or ill at ease.

Disappointed:related to or marked by disappointment.

Jokes:a short, humorous story with a word or phrase that ends it and causes laughter.

Foreigners:a person not native to or naturalized in the country or jurisdiction under consideration.

Humble:not proud or arrogant.

Barn:a building for storing hay and grain, and often for keeping animals.

Yawn:to open the mouth, usually involuntarily, and breathe in deeply, sometimes with a sighing sound and a large breath out, often caused by drowsiness or boredom.

Stamp:to strike with a forceful, strong, downward movement or push of the foot.

Plateau: a land area having a level surface raised much higher above nearby land.

Plains:a large, flat area of land not higher than nearby areas.

Glacier: an extended mass of ice formed from snow falling and gathering over the years and moving very slowly downward or outward.

Stream: a body of water flowing in a channel, as a brook.

Estuary: part of the mouth of a river in which its current meets the sea's tide.

Spring: the place where water comes up from the ground.

Surface:the outer face, outside, or exterior boundary of a thing.

Anthropic: of or pertaining to human beings or their span of existence on earth.

Daw:a barrier to obstruct or control the flow of water, built across a stream or river.

Crops: the plant, or the product of a plant, produced while growing or when gathered.

Collide:to strike each other forcefully.

Livestock: the horses, cattle, sheep, and other useful animals kept or raised on a farm or ranch.

Cattle ranching: large farm animals, as cows and steers, raised for their meat or milk.

Oaks:a tree or shrub of the beech family, which bears the acorn as its fruit.

Beeches:a tree having a smooth gray bark and small, triangular nuts.

Shrubs:a woody plant smaller than a tree.

Thickets:a dense growth of shrubs, bushes, or small trees.

Heather:a heath plant having small pinkish purple flowers.

Holm oak:an evergreen Mediterranean oak tree widely planted for ornament: the leaves are holly-like. when young but become smooth-edged with age.

Cork oak:an avergreen mediterranean oak tree, with a porous outer bask from which cork is obtained.

Steppe:a wide or vast plain, esp. one without trees.

Evergreen:having green leaves throughout the year.

Birches: a tree having a smooth, peeling outer bark and close-grained wood.

Boar:a male pig kept for breeding.

Fallow deer:a Eurasian deer, with a fallow or yellowish coat.

Stork:a wading bird having long legs and a long neck and bill.

Marten:the fur of such an animal, generally a dark brown.

Chamois:a small antelope much like a goat, of the high mountains of Europe.

Mink:a semiaquatic weasellike animal.
